The jersey, designed by Adidas, gives reference to Highbury’s iconic marble halls. It aims to bring back fond memories and unite a generation of fans. Over a decade after Arsenal moved to the Emirates Stadium, the Old East Stand of the Highbury ground still remains standing. The statue of Arsenal’s iconic former manager, Herbert Chapman, rests on a podium in the stand. The jersey’s patterns, colors, and motifs are inspired by the stand. It gives a literal reference to the marbles within the Old East Stand. The marble halls saw The Gunners lift the league title thirteen times between 1913 and 2004.

In addition to the natural pattern of the marble, Adidas added bespoke off-white, maroon, and black colors to give Arsenal’s 2020/21 away jersey a clean and versatile look.

According to James Webb, a designer at Adidas, the sportswear manufacturer wanted to give Arsenal fans a trip down the memory lane to the Highbury halls as it was a significant chapter in Arsenal’s history. Webb said that The Gunner’s move to Highbury in 1913 cemented its place in North London. “It was the birthplace of the modern club.”

Adidas set out to bring the echoes of Highbury to Emirates Stadium with the jersey. It sought to remind the current crop of players and the new generation of fans of the club’s iconic history. It achieved its goal with an exquisite design.

The jersey features Emirates new 'Emirates - Fly Better' tag as the main sponsor and Visit Rwanda's logo on the left sleeve. Arsenal rounded off the look with maroon shorts and cloud white socks.
