Manchester City 2020/21 home Jersey Review

When EPL fans complained that Manchester City’s jerseys in recent seasons have been plain, they didn’t expect the Cityzens to switch things up this season the way they did. Especially for the home jersey. It pays tribute to Manchester’s reputation as a city full of industry, music, art, fashion, noise, and culture. Manchester City stuck with its traditional sky blue base. But they added subtle white mosaic crack graphics, an inspiration from the mosaic artwork of Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

The back of the jersey remains a plain sky blue color with a small CITY inscription on the back of the collar.

Mark Kennedy, the artist behind the awesome mosaics, said that he felt proud his work was an inspiration for the club’s new home kit.

He said that when he started out, the Northern Quarter was a derelict area that he wanted to build up. So he integrated his own artistic style while creating Manchester icons using ceramic plates and tiles. That’s how he got commissioned to create artwork for Manchester City.

Kennedy has also created artwork of Manchester City players like Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero besides other club legends displayed at the City Football Academy.

The Manchester City home shirt is produced by Puma.  It is part of Puma’s "Crafted from Culture" theme which looks to incorporate cultural elements from various cities into its jerseys. Other jerseys that form part of the theme include Borussia Dortmund, PSV Eindhoven, and AC Milan’s home jerseys.

White shorts and blue socks complete the Cityzens home kit. Manchester City wore the kit for the first time in last season’s FA semi-final defeat to Arsenal.

It’s no surprise that ESPN named Manchester City as having the best kits for the 2020/21 season. Do you like the Manchester City home jersey? You can get it from Fanbase Kenya for Ksh.1,200. Order it here.
